Let's go for coffee ...

This was a quick and easy card.   (Can you tell I really like that kind?)

I used the coffee cup image from the new Sheena Douglass' A Little Bit Scenic - French 50's Cafe set.

I put the image across a piece of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Ultra Smooth Premium Cardstock.  As you can see in the photo, I staggered the images from row to row.  Then I cut the card stock down to 3 3/4" x 5".  I picked several cups at random and colored in the dots with a red Spectrum Noir marker.  I attached this finished piece to a piece of black card stock that was about 1/16" larger on each side.  This was then attached to the middle of a piece of red, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", card stock that had been folded in half.  (This card has a side fold.)

Then, I printed out the text "Let's go for coffee" onto the same Premium Cardstock.  I cut this out to be 2 1/4" x 1 3/8".  I attached this to the middle of a 2 5/8" x 1 3/4" piece of red card stock.  This was then attached to the middle of a piece of black card stock that was about 1/16" larger on each side.

Up to this final step, I used the Extra Strong Permanent Tape to attach my card parts.  I attached this last piece with the text, at an angle, to the front of the card with double-sided adhesive foam.

Done!

Until next time, I am ever searching for inspiration.

Just a note ...

Need to write a little personal note? Make some pretty stationery to use. The recipient of your note will be so happy to know you took a little extra time to make something special for them.

I used 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" text weight paper. I ran my sheets through the printer to add my name and address. If you have one of those self-inking stamps with your name and address, just stamp away.

Next, I placed my images. For this project, I used the Sheena Douglass Provence stamps. Please see the photos for where the images were placed. It's entirely up to you as to where you want them. You could put images down one side.

You could put an image or two at the bottom of the sheet. Make different layouts. These pieces are for you. If you like a particular piece of your stationery, make some for a friend.

I used colored pencils to color the images on my paper. "Why?", you ask. "Because I don't want the Spectrum Noir markers to show through on the back", I answered.

For the envelopes, I needed the image to have color and to not smear when going through the postal service.

I use a spare tag to put down into the envelope where the image is.  I then used the Spectrum Noir markers to color.  Take the tag out and no bleed through!

Hope you liked today's Crafter's Companion quick and easy project!!

Until next time, I am ever searching for inspiration.

Bonne Santé (Good Health)

"They" say that a bit of wine from time to time is good for your health.  So when I saw Sheena Douglass' new Provence stamps, I decided to use the Bonne Santé stamp.

When I made this card, I started with a piece of 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" kraft-colored card stock.  Also a
3 7/8" x 5 1/8" piece of purple card stock and a 3 3/4" x 5" piece of Ultra Smooth Premium Cardstock.

The kraft-colored card stock was folded in half for the card base.  This card has a side fold. I used the Extra Strong Permanent Adhesive to attach the purple card stock to the center of the card base.

On the Ultra Smooth Cardstock, I placed the bottle and glass image.  I used basic masking to add the other wine glass behind the bunch of grapes in the first image.  Then, I placed the Bonne Santé image to the left of the neck of the wine bottle.  I colored the images with Spectrum Noir Markers.

I used a scrap of the Ultra Smooth Cardstock to place the image of the bunches of grapes.  I used the Spectrum Noir markers on this too.  I then "fussy cut" out the image.

Using the tape, I centered the main images on top of the purple card stock.

I used the double-sided foam adhesive to pop up the bunches of grapes on the top left portion of the card.  Please refer to the image for placement.

I placed three purple gem stones in the bottom right corner of the card.  The last thing I did was to use a opaque white gel pen to scratch in some highlights in the images.

I wish you all a wonderful week!!  To my Kentucky followers and friends ... please remember to vote on Tuesday, May 22nd.

And remember ... May is Crafter's Companion Customer Appreciation month!!

For the third week's giveaway, ending on May 22, 2012, Crafter's Companion will be letting me give one of you the Boxer and Envelobox Creator Bundle with Advanced Techniques DVD.

A Baby Card

For this week's project, I made a baby card.  This card could be used to send to the new baby or parents; as a birth announcement, or as a baby shower invitation.  The inside is up to you.

I started with a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of purple card stock.  I folded it in half for the the card base.  (This card has a side fold.) Next, I used a border punch down the side of the front.

I picked out a coordinating patterned paper (plaid) and another solid color card stock (sage green).  From the patterned paper, I cut a 1" x 5 1/2" strip.  I attached this to the inside of the card, on the edge, to accent the punched border.

I cut a 4 3/4" x 3 1/4" piece of sage card stock.  I attached this to the front of the card.  I also punched a 3 1/2" oval from the sage green card stock.

I cut a 4 3/4' x 3" piece of plaid.  I used a different border punch across the top and bottom of this piece.  After punching, I attached it on top of the sage green card stock on the front of the card.

I used the Extra Strong Permanent Tape to attach the layers described above.

I used double-sided adhesive foam to attach the sage green oval onto the top of the card.

I used the Humphrey "Welcome Little One" stamp set.  I put the main image on Ultra Smooth Premium Cardstock.  Then I used my Spectrum Noir pens to color it. I cut it from the card stock leaving a tiny border around the image.  I used the double-sided adhesive foam again to attach the image to the top of the oval on the front of the card.

I placed gemstones across the punched areas of the plaid paper.  And then added some punched paper flowers in the corners of the plaid paper. These were attached to the paper with 3-D Crystal Lacquer. (Please see photos for placement suggestions.)  I used glitter glue in the middles of the flowers.

Hope you enjoyed today's project!

Until next time, I am ever searching for inspiration.

You're One of a Kind Card

For this Monday project, I will be using the S.w.a.l.k. Stamp set - Collection 6 - Son.  When I first saw this image, I knew what I wanted to do with it.  I hope you like it!

I started with a 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of Ultra Smooth Premium cardstock.  I cut it in half for 2 pieces 8 1/2" x 5 1/2". Using one of the pieces, I put some star images on the top half and the text "...you're one of a kind" and three more stars on the bottom half of this piece.  I then folded the card in half.  This card will have the fold at the top.  Here's a template showing where I cut and scored this piece to allow for the images to "stand up" in the card.

After cutting and scoring, I trimmed off 1/8" from the two shorter sides and 1/4" from the non-folded side.  I colored in the stars with a gold gel pen.

I attached a piece of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white paper in the middle of the inside of the blue card.  Here's the photo to show you  the position.  Then I placed the piece with the stars, text, cuts and folds inside the card.

On a the second piece of the ultra smooth card stock, I put the blue ribbon image.  I colored it in with the Spectrum Noir markers and the gold gel pen on the "1".  I cut this out.   I put my main image on the other piece of ultra smooth card stock.  I used my Spectrum Noir pens to color the boy, the cat, and the bear.  I cut them out.

I attached a of  4 5/8" x 3 3/8" piece of yellow card stock in the middle on the front of the blue card.   On top of that, I centered and attached a  4 3/8" x 3 1/8" piece of green card stock.  I placed several star images on this green card stock and colored them in with the gold gel pen.  I then attached the blue ribbon with double-sided adhesive foam.

I attached the boy, cat, and bear pieces to the inside of the card so they would appear to be standing up.

Please note ... all of my attaching (except for the blue ribbon) was done with the Extra Strong Permanent Tape Runner.

That's it.  Not too bad as far as the fussy cutting goes.  Hope you like it.

Until next time, I am ever searching for inspiration.

Last minute gift for Mom ...

or maybe a teacher gift.  It doesn't take long, and it can be geared toward any audience.

I used part of the Stamp-It Australia Destination stamp on Ultra Smooth Premium Cardstock.  I added the word "Addresses" across the top and "Birthdays ... Anniversaries ... Other Important dates" along the side of the stamp image.

I used a Versa-Mark pen on top of the scroll and the butterfly in the image.  I embossed them with fine clear embossing powder.

I picked out three colors of Spectrum Noir Markers that went together ... GB2, GT1, and LV1.  To color my image, I started by scribbling my Blender pen over the entire image.  Then, one at a time, I scribbled each color randomly over the image.  I used some more blender, I put some more color, and so on. until I liked what I saw.

I put the small composition book over the image and lightly drew around it.  I used the outline as my guide and tore out the image.  I edged this with a silver Krylon marker and set it to the side.

To cover the little book, I picked out a black specialty paper that was a little thicker, and was more pliable than regular card stock.  I used the Extra Strong Permanent Tape Runner to put adhesive on the back cover of the book.  (Make sure to put the adhesive on the edges the book and then just run a few stripes of adhesive in the middle.)  Do not put any glue on the spine of the book!  Place the book - adhesive side down - on the wrong side of the paper.  I used a brayer to make sure I got the paper pressed to the book.  Now, the front cover should be on top.  Apply the adhesive to this side.  Pull the paper over the cover of the book, making sure to leave a little slack at the spine.  This will allow  the paper to stay in place when the book is opened wide. Brayer this side also.

Use scissors to cut away the rest of the paper from the book.

Next, I used the silver pen to go around the three loose edges of the pages and covers.  I let this dry for a bit.

I used the permanent tape all over the back of the colored image.  I placed it on the front cover and brayered it so it would lie flat.

There you go.  That's it.  That's all it takes to make this little book. You could even make several in an afternoon.

Remember ... all of the Crafter's Design Team Members are giving away prizes each week in May.  Stop by each member's blog and check out their requirements to be entered to win.

Every day is a gift ...

... that's why they call it the present.  I believe that statement.  And I think it's a great sentiment for the card I made for today.  I've been working on a special Monday blog for you, I hope you like it.

This project features the "The Present" S.w.a.l.k.™ stamp set.

To make this card, I started with a piece of 11" x 7 1/4" dark turquoise card stock, folded in half with a side fold.  I also used two pieces of 5" x 6 3/4" card stock; one light turquoise and the other the Ultra Smooth Premium Cardstock.  I used a corner rounder on the light turquoise card stock and attached it to the center of the front of the card with Extra Strong Permanent Tape.  I put this to the side for later use.

I stamped the two packages found in the set with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  I placed the center of each package about 2" in from the side and 2" up from the bottom of the ultra smooth card stock.  I then used simple masking to cover the packages so I could stamp the girl to look like she's standing behind the packages.  Next, I stamped the sentiment stamps above and below the main image.

I colored my images with the Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.  Use the colors that you like.  I just felt in the mood for the coral and turquoise colors when making this sample.  They looked "springy" to me.

After I'd finished with the coloring, I drew a line behind the girl's legs, and on out from the packages a bit, to look like there was a floor there.  I think this helps to "anchor" the images.  Without, she seemed to be "floating" in mid air!  Ha!

Uh oh.  I got a smudge of ink on my card.  What to do now?  Make a new one after getting this far?  No ... not today.  I decided to add some punched paper flowers.  I added just a drop of glitter glue to the inside of the flowers.  They came out looking OK, I think.  Then, to finish with the color, I added a bit of pink chalk to her cheeks and a bit of light blue chalk partially around her.

I used a corner/border punch around the edges of the card stock with the images.  I liked it, but ...  I decided it needed just another little something at the top.  I got out my Ultimate tool and made a perfect little bow to attach to the top.

Speaking of the Ultimate Tool ... Crafter's Companion is letting me give away one the for the first week of May.  Please check out my blog entry from Tuesday, May 1, 2012, for the complete details on how you can be entered to win.  The current giveaway ends at 8pm PT/11pm ET on May 8, 2012.  The winner of the first week's prize will be announced with a blog post no later than 10am ET on May 9, 2012.

Until next time, I am ever searching for inspiration.

Prom Party Invitation

It's that time of year around here.  Prom time.  And I have been having a great time looking at the prom pictures on Facebook.

Here's an invitation card to invite the friends to your party after the prom.

I used the "Belle of the Ball" S.w.a.l.k.™ stamp set for this invitation.  I placed the image on a piece of 4" x 5 1/4" card Ultra Smooth Premium Card stock.  I used my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers to color in the image.  I used the markers to "write" over the text.  I used a glitter pen to color in the stars.  I added glitter glue to make the diamonds in her tiara shine.  I pulled out some silver Liquid Pearls™ for her necklace and earrings. I rubbed some chalk  around her for a little bit of a background (it's hard to see in the photo).

Using a word processing program and my printer, I printed the text shown at the bottom of the card on the same card stock as the image. I used the same marker I'd used at the top to "write" over the text.  I mounted it onto the same color card stock and adhered it to the front of the card below the image.

I also used the word processing program to create the inside of the invitation.  Just the basics of any standard invitation ... who, what, why, when and where.  The information was typed into a 3.75" x 5" text box.  I place four of these text boxes on a page.  You then print, cut, and adhere them to the inside of the invitation.

I hope this helped spark your imagination.

Be sure to leave a comment on my blog this week (ending on May 8th, 2012) for a chance to win an Ultimate Tool from Crafter's Companion and me!

Be sure to to check out the Crafter's Companion Informational Blog and the Crafter's Companion Challenge Blog for more giveaways in May!

Until next time, I am ever searching for inspiration.
